Manager Graham Westley was again pleased with the efforts of the team during the game against Carlisle on Saturday, and he was of course delighted with the clean sheet.

Speaking to the press following the game which extended our unbeaten run to six games the gaffer explained.

‘A nil against score always takes a lot of hard work. It’s about putting in blocks and tackles and getting your organisation right. There was a lot of work involved, and we had a moment or two – and I didn’t feel we were in any serious danger although anything can happen.’

Our six match unbeaten run now has certainly put us well back into the mix of avoiding relegation this campaign and we do have a game in hand that if we made that count could really move us away from the drop zone and give us the confidence boost that this would now entail on the back of our efforts.

For the last six matches specifically, Westley’s real delight is in the fact that we have picked up three victories as well and he’s been delighted with that.

Whilst the victory would’ve done far more for us, backing up our recent efforts with another important point cannot be sniffed at, especially as Carlisle did have the greater chances and will have been disappointed not to have stolen the lead, so we take it and move on.

The gaffer also confirmed that John Ashton did pick up an injury in the game and his substitution wasn’t a tactical switch, so we will have to see how serious and how long he may now be out of action for, but obviously that will be a blow.
