On loan midfielder John Mousinho has said that after a long season so far, Stevenage really have hope they can pull off a relegation escape following our recent form, and not only have the results been good for the fans, but they’ve been excellent for the players because they really have been working hard to try and turn this around and they are finally getting the rewards for that work.

As we head into the game against MK Dons this weekend, Mousinho knows it’s vital that we continue our recent run of results and preferably pick up another three points and the victory as it could well pull us out of the drop zone for the first time in quite a while.

Speaking to the Official Site ahead of the game he explained that it would be a boost for everyone if we managed to move out of the bottom four for the second time since November, as then the aim will obviously be to stay out of it between now and the end of the season.

‘It’s massively important to win especially now we’ve put ourselves in a better position. There’s light at the end of the tunnel now and wins can push us up the league. Points are always valuable but especially now when we’re into the final ten games of the season.’

Mousinho goes on to say that nobody is putting pressure on by identifying games as six pointers or cup finals or any of the other often used cliches at this time of year, what’s important for the team is to continue to focus on each game as it comes and give each opposition team the respect they deserve so we nullify their threats and then pose questions of our own.

‘We’ve been on a fairly solid run, albeit we’d have liked to have won a couple of the ones we’ve drawn, but we’re definitely in a better position now and if we can take that form into the final ten we should give ourselves every chance.’

The player admits that the team are relishing the challenge they face and that was something he noticed the second he returned, there was a real desire to face this head on, improve and conquer it and every effort has been expended in trying to do that and thankfully it looks to be coming off for us at the moment, but the job isn’t done yet so nobody is going to be allowed to take it easy.

Ultimately the players got us into this position, it’s down to the players to get us out of it and they more than appreciate that.
