Miller ‘lost his head’ v Stevenage

In Saturday’s Stevenage v Crewe match, two minutes after Long had been sent off, Crewe’s Miller lunged at Scott Laird and was – in my completely unbiased opinion! – lucky not to go himself. Crewe manager Dario Gradi immediately subbed Miller in order to protect his team’s one man advantage. He is quoted on Yahoo Eurosport as saying:

‘The fact he [Miller] lost his head to that extent meant I wasn’t really sure what he was going to do. He wasn’t playing professionally at that stage, so it was best he came off. Hot-headed players are no use to anybody.’

Fair play to Gradi for coming out and saying this. A lot of managers seem to defend their own players no matter what happens.
