Definite Red Card

Graham Westley believes Portsmouth should’ve been reduced to ten men in the game, and had they been it might have made the difference between one point and three.

Speaking to the press following the game, Westley said of the Yassin Moutaouakil incident.

‘The referee can only give what he sees and he has obviously given what he has seen. I’m sure if he thought there was a head butt, he would have sent the lad off. From where I was standing, it looked a clear red. The fourth official, I think, felt the same.’

As for the game itself, Westley added.

‘That’s a second clean sheet in a week and it was a hard earned clean sheet. We could have easily scored two or three goals from pretty clear cut chances and we didn’t give too many away. On the whole, I think a draw was a fair result.’

In other interviews, Portsmouth manager Guy Whittingham also said he expected to see a red card be produced as he saw the clash of heads, but he didn’t see what led up to it.
