Bridges’ all time low

Boro midfielder David Bridges told the Stevenage Comet ‘I’m as low as it can get’, referring not to his time playing for non league clubs Cambridge and Kettering, but to his red card in last weekend’s FA Trophy final. Referee impersonator Lee Probert sent Bridges off just before the half hour mark. Stevenage were one nil up at the time, though eventually lost 2-1 aet.

The midfielder said he felt “responsible” but then the Comet also reports him as saying “I was stunned, I`ve never been sent off in my career and obviously I have a moment like” which is either poetry, madness or a typo.

Later in the game Barrow had a player (Hulbert) sent off for knocking Charlie Griffin unconscious with an elbow, which saw Boro also lose a man when Griffin was unable to continue. Hulbert later used his blog to deny any intent and cite self-defense. Now that, perhaps, is as low as it can get.
