Manager Graham Westley has today overseen the signings of Ronnie Henry, Chris Whelpdale and Simon Walton.

The club have agreed terms this afternoon with all three players ahead of the coming 2014-15 campaign, and of course fans will be aware of Ronnie Henry following his earlier spell at the club where he made 329 appearances for us over a seven year period.

Not a bad time for the player or the club as he helped secure two promotions, two FA Trophies and became the first skipper to lift a piece of silverware at the New Wembley following it’s construction.

The 30 year old returns to The Lamex following a two year spell with Luton, who he skippered to the Skrill Premier title last campaign.

27 year old midfielder Whelpdale joins us from Gillingham. In his time with them, and former club Peterborough United, he has racked up in excess of 220 appearances, playing his part in both clubs reaching League 1 and the Championship respectively. He has also scored more than 30 times in that period from the middle of the park.

26 year old midfielder Simon Walton joins us from Hartlepool United, and in a two year spell with them, he made 73 appearances, scoring four goals.

Having come through the youth ranks at his hometown club Leeds United, he broke into their first team, making 34 appearances and earning himself England recognition at U16-U19 levels. Following his departure from Elland Road he has gone on to have spells with Charlton, QPR and Plymouth as well as numerous loan spells.

In other news, French U21 international Bira Dembele has now extended his contract at the club seeing him through until next summer. Having joined us last term, he made 13 appearances, scoring once.
