The Big Time. The Glory. Stevenage v Macclesfield. This is what we’ve been waiting 14 years for. A chance to play a team we used to knock about in non league with.

Stevenage started well in the season’s opener, and Vincenti – a surprise starter – put us one nil up early on. Macclesfield responded quickly with a header from a free kick and then controlled the rest of the first half. The crowd was lively to begin with, but soon subdued as Boro struggled once the scores were level.

The 2nd half began with 5 minutes of Boro possession… and then Macclesfield went 2-1 ahead. Stevenage huffed and puffed. Yemi and Beardsley replaced Vincenti and the ineffective Winn. And finally, the equaliser came. Another sub, Robbie Sinclair, set up Charlie Griffin to nick a point and allow us all to go home quite happy with our first point.
