Manager Teddy Sheringham and midfielder Steven Schumacher have given their disappointed thoughts following the two one loss to Northampton on Saturday.

In quotes carried by The Comet from his post game press conference, Sheringham’s disappointment at full time was clear to see.

Keeping his comments brief such was his frustration, he explained.

‘I thought we played very well. I felt we were in control so to come away losing is very disappointing. To let another team in when we you are in control, not overly dominant but I felt we were the the better team in the game, it`s very disappointing to come away with nothing. We had a lot of the ball but didn`t create enough chances. Neither keeper had a great deal to do. The glaring one is the one that came in from the left-hand side and there was no-one getting in the box to finish it off. They go up the other and get a goal so that`s a disappointing thing.’

As for Schumacher’s goal on the day he went on to add.

‘It`s a great goal from our point of view, probably not from theirs, but it`s a knock-down and he`s made it his own. It was a chance that could have gone either way but Schumacher got onto it and produced a good finish and we were delighted with that at that point. Right at this minute, there`s not much we can take away from the game.’

With Schumacher getting the goal, he did his own interview with the official site and he admitted we got punished in the game and should’ve taken something from it.

‘I thought we played really well first half, controlled the game but didn`t take our chances that we created and got punished. It is not the first time this season that we have played really well in the first half and created chances. We have done that a couple of times and we go in at half-time and we say, ‘look we are going to get punished unless we keep the clean sheet` and unfortunately we can`t do that at the moment, we are struggling to keep clean sheets.’

Schumacher went on to say that the players were ‘fuming’ with both goals we conceded on the day – but it’s about our overall performance at both ends of the pitch.

‘We are fuming over both goals; they are poor goals to concede. We keep looking at our defenders but at the end of the day we should be 3-0 up and cruising and they should be out of the game. It is about both boxes, the gaffer says it all the time. At any level of football it is about both boxes but especially at this level. Whichever team dominates the two 18 yard boxes wins games and at the minute we aren`t dominating either end.’
