Charlie Lee has said that everybody in the dressing room is optimistic about what we can do in the second half of the season having taken 16 points from a possible 18 in the recent run that has seen us shoot up the table into the play off spots.

Quite a remarkable turn around in form where only just over a month ago we were nine points away from seventh place, sitting low down in 15th position.

Speaking to the Official Site the player explained.

‘We had a slow start but I think we’re doing really well now and looking strong as a team. We’ve only got two injuries at the minute (Ashton & Worley) so that’s making it a lot easier on everyone, we’ve got people fighting for places and I think if we keep everyone fit, that’ll be key and we should be able to continue to do well.’

Lee has been one of the stand out performers this season grabbing himself seven goals and six assists so far (top in both tables) and he accepts that having played as a more defensive player in his time with Gillingham and Peterborough, he’s certainly enjoying a new lease of life under manager Graham Westley.

‘I’ve played there a few times, but not regularly like I am doing at the moment and I’m enjoying it, probably should have been doing it more often!’

Calling it now his strongest position on the field, he says he’s definitely enjoying it and he’s enjoying playing such a significant part in our season and this run especially, and he’s just hopeful that he can keep this run going and maintain his consistency now, especially as he knows still that the more he plays there, the better he will get.
